RARE Internship – A Mutually Beneficial Experience

/ October 9, 2025

This year marked a first for RARE: welcoming an intern to support many of the organization’s programs and functions.

Kaitlyn Yang, a graduate student at Seattle University pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, joined the team with enthusiasm and purpose. In addition to her studies, Kaitlyn works in the library at the Seattle University School of Law.

Kaitlyn was drawn to RARE because she saw it as an opportunity to contribute to a nonprofit delivering meaningful benefits to a large number of students.

Now that she has completed her internship, she reflects on the experience as deeply rewarding—one where she was able to make a real impact.

When asked what advice she would offer to future interns, Kaitlyn emphasized the importance of curiosity.

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions—that’s how you learn from an internship!”

As she looks ahead to life after graduate school, her time at RARE has opened her eyes to a wide range of possibilities within the nonprofit sector.

She also spoke highly of RARE’s collaborative team culture, noting how much she appreciated the shared commitment to creating a positive experience for students.

We wish Kaitlyn all the best as she continues her professional journey.  Thank you, Kaitlyn!
